Channel 4 show wants to 'push the boundaries of interactive TV'
New virtual reality show Eden promises to push interactive TV further than ever before.
The Channel 4 show will challenge a group of strangers to set up a community in a remote Australian rainforest.
But viewers will be able to choose the participants, comment on their activities and even become contestants themselves.
The show will be broadcast at 6pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Producer Eve Kay said: "The idea is to get a bunch of young people, take away modern conveniences like electricity and comfy beds, and make them build a community.
"It's like The Beach meets Lord Of The Flies. Without civilisation, what will happen?"
The first viewer vote will whittle down a shortlisted 12 contestants to the six who'll set up the community.
Each week from then on, viewers will pick one of four shortlisted people to join the group.
Eve Kay added: "Every contestant will have their own web chat forum,so you can communicate with them on a daily basis.
Viewers can get involved, stir up trouble, give advice.
"People who become very active in the forum will become characters in their own right. And they'd then be first choice for the shortlist to join Eden full-time."
