Anastacia to perform 2002 World Cup song

Anastacia will sing the official song of the 2002 World Cup.

The US artist will first perform the song Boom at next weekend's final draw for the tournament in Busan, South Korea.

A Korean symphony orchestra also will perform the Vangelis-written World Cup anthem, at the event in Busan.

The Greek composer's anthem includes traditional music from South Korea and Japan, the joint hosts of the soccer tournament.

Anastacia had a hit last year with the song I'm Outta Love.

She and Vangelis are both Sony Music artists, and their performances are part of a new licensing deal agreed between Fifa and Sony, the governing body said.

Sony will also release a World Cup album featuring South Korean and Japanese artists.

Official songs at recent World Cups have included Un'estate Italiana, performed by Edoardo Bennato and Gianna Nannini when the competition was held in Italy in 1990; Gloryland performed by Daryl Hall with Sounds Of Blackness in the United States in 1994; and La Copa De La Vida, sung by Ricky Martin in France in 1998.
