“My blog is about my life as a mother, sharing the trials, tribulations and entertainment that inevitably comes with children,” she said. “I am a freelance writer in my free time and would love, one day, to publish a children’s book.”

Her blog was also a diary of sorts during her most recent pregnancy.

Writing has opened up a new world of possibilities for Jenny, and she appreciates the opportunity to share her thoughts.

“Blogging has definitely opened doors for me, in terms of writing opportunities and connecting with like-minded people. It allows me to vocalise my thoughts, too, which is great.

“When I got pregnant with Penny, I developed a serious case of baby-brain and it was a great way of keeping my brain from succumbing to the brain fog.”

Jenny believes Instagram will have a bigger part to play in blogging, as she has noticed many of her peers using it more and more.

“I am only now getting to grips with Instagram. This seems to be the way forward in the blogging community, as everyone is using Insta-stories now.”

Despite the growth of Instagram, Jenny says she still loves Facebook.

“I, like many others, am a bit of a Facebook addict. I aimlessly scroll through my newsfeed several times a day. The blog is helping me to focus more, as I come up with ideas while scrolling or looking at something online. Although social media can have its drawbacks, it is a great way to keep in touch with people, news, and, of course, my favourite bloggers, too.”

The Irish blogging community has been a great help to Jenny, who says her fellow bloggers are always happy to share advice.

“There is a great sense of community among bloggers. We all support each other, we all want each other to do well, and will help any way we can. They are so welcoming, as a group, when you start out and are happy to give you advice or tips, too.”

Jenny says anyone with an interest should set up their own blog.

“If you have an interest in blogging, do it! Don’t let fear or uncertainty stop you. I am happy just plugging away and putting my thoughts down on paper. If people like it, great.”
