Tovala oven brings Keurig style pods to cooking

The pod has become consumer appliances’ number one disruptor. From the Keurig pod that makes single serve coffee brewing dead simple to the now ubiquitous dishwasher and laundry detergent pods, the household buyer has warmly embraced pre-portioned packaging.

Perhaps inevitably, somebody has decided that it's time to scale it up.

The result is a smart oven called “Tovala.” Though it looks like a microwave, the device is actually capable of baking, broiling, and boiling, like a real oven.

When your meal pod (€10.50 each) is inserted, the Tovala scans it and automatically applies the correct cooking cycle.

More intriguingly, the Tovala can also be programmed via smartphone, allowing you to cook your own dishes with computer controlled precision. It costs €348.
