Sony ends 'Premium Standard' range

Sony is ending the company’s ‘Premium Standard’ range of smartphones following disappointing sales, according to a new report from Xperia Blog.

The report states that Sony confirmed its decision to discontinue the range due lower-than-expected sales of the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact at the 2017 Investor Day event.

Sony managed to achieve 85 percent of its sales target for the ‘Premium Standard’ range of smartphones in Japan but only achieved 31 percent of its sales target in the global market.

The company is now expected to focus on upcoming flagship devices like the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XA1.
