Released on June 23 – the same day the band are due to play Glastonbury – the new ‘deluxe’ edition will include B-sides and three unreleased tracks. Meanwhile, Zayn Malik’s charity appeal earlier this week created the biggest internet troll-fest since Kim Kardashian’s arse.

The multi-millionaire former One Direction member took to Twitter to appeal on behalf of his mother’s best friend, who needs £120,000 for life-saving cancer treatment. ‘You’re rich, YOU help her!’ was one of the more polite responses, but the unfortunate woman involved has leapt to his defence.

Ayesha Daniels stated she wouldn’t want the money from Malik anyway, and had simply asked him to help publicise her GoFundMe campaign. Finally, it’s been widely reported that Irishman and real estate businnessman Tyrone McKillen has found a buyer for his California mansion.

Apparently, Beyoncé and Jay Z have made an offer of $120m for the Bel Air pad, designed by Dublin-born Paul McClean.

GIG WISE: Tickets went on sale yesterday for Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons at the Marquee in Cork on July 6.

The original Jersey boy turned 83 on Wednesday, and has an incredible roster of hits to fill a set with, from My Eyes Adored You’ and ‘Grease’ in the 1970s, to ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘Walk Like a Man’ in the 1960s.

Tickets cost €54-€76 +bf. Also in Cork, Hugh Cornwell of the Stranglers has announced a gig for Triskel on May 26, while Greenshine bring their family harmonies to the Inkwell Theatre in Tracton tomorrow.

In Dublin, Nordic groove-meister Todd Terje will do his live thing at District 8 on June 16. Iron Maiden play the 3Arena tomorrow, while Bob ‘Nobel’ Dylan is at the same venue on May 20.

FILM TIPS: Can you guess which film has joined Beauty and the Beast in earning over a billion dollars this year?

Fast & Furious 8 passed the magical billion mark in the global box office takings, which means it’s probably a safe bet that the promised two more films in the franchise will get made.

Among the more interesting releases today is The Journey, starring Colm Meaney, right, and Timothy Spall in a fictionalised account of the unlikely friendship between northern politicians Martin McGuinness and Ian Paisley.

And, in an era when many films feel much too long, it’s a pleasant surprise to see this tale clocking in at 94 minutes. Long isn’t necessarily bad, however, and among the showings at Triskel in Cork from Sunday is Park Chan-wook’s director’s cut of his widely-praised thriller The Handmaiden.

Also on the roster at Triskel is We Are Moving, a documentary on Cork ballet doyenne Joan Denise Moriarty.

FESTIVAL FEVER: It was a big week of announcements for summer events, with both Cork and Galway unveiling the line-ups for their arts festivals.

On Leeside the Midsummer festival (June 16-26) goes up a notch with the best lineup in many years.

Buzz Aldrin will lecture at a 7m inflatable moon; celebrated Broadway set designer Bob Crowley returns home for a public lecture; Corcadorca do their thing on Spike Island; and the Cork Fleischmann Symphony Orchestra play live in the Glen. Plus, mucho more.

Meanwhile, highlights of Galway International Arts Festival (July 17-30) include a new opera by Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh; and Druid’s production of Crestfall by Mark O’Rowe.
