One of the big highlights for day four of the Cork International Choral Festival is The Big Sing, where everyone gets the chance to take to the stage. Check out some of Saturday's highlights here. 

Five events to check out at the Cork International Choral Festival today (Saturday, April 29)

9.30am: Mixed Voice - Chamber and Youth Choirs Competition City Hall

From all over Ireland, choirs will come to compete and demonstrate their astonishing talent honed by dedicated practice.  There is free admission for this event.

10am- 6pm: Festival Food Market - Emmet Place

During this year’s Festival Market on Emmet Place, plenty of local produce will line the plaza. Delicious foods from the locality will be on offer along with the usual favourite street food options.

12pm: The Big Sing! - Cork City Hall

For those who want to take to the stage themselves, The Big Sing in Cork City Hall will begin at midday.

With the ambition of ensuring everybody gets the opportunity to sing in the Festival, Cork International Choral Festival invites all to take part in The Big Sing 2017, the festival’s big and bright participatory singing event. The Big Sing is open to everyone and admission is free.

There’s no preparation necessary – just sing from, and for, the heart!

In just 45 mins, composer and conductor Gemma Sugrue will teach a well-known choral work to the crowd.

1pm: Choirs at Christchurch: Guys and Dolls - Triskel Christchurch

Guys and Dolls take a great interest in all styles of modern acapella singing, including close harmony jazz and popular music.

3pm and 8pm: 2017 International Fleishmann Gala Concert - Cork City Hall.

Hear from some of the world’s top amateur choirs competing for the Fleischmann International Trophy, one of the most prestigious choral prizes in Europe at the 2017 International Fleishmann Gala Concert at Cork City Hall.

The Fleischmann International Trophy is one of the most prestigious choral prizes in Europe. It is a real opportunity for audiences to discover a range of interesting music sung to the highest standard.

3.00pm: Lane, Oliver Plunkett St -  Century Voice Choir, Taiwan

3.30pm: Old Oak, Oliver Plunkett St - The Wall of Sound, England

4.00pm: GPO, Oliver Plunkett St - Jubilant Gospel Choir, ITALY

4.15pm: Hayfield Manor - Cantate, Ireland

5.00pm: Keane’s Jewellers Oliver Plunkett St - Vokalensemble “Crossover”, Germany

6.00pm: Electric Bar & Restaurant - The Wall of Sound, England

6.30pm: The Maldron Hotel – Floro Canti, France
