2. Tastings and Talks

As home to the best-selling Irish whiskey in the world, it only seemed right Cork had its very own Whiskey Festival.

It will work alongside some of the city’s best-known bars and restaurants from Monday for a week of tastings, talks, tours and treats.

3. E-Learning

Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology is hosting a series of free digital learning events this week as part of the national All Aboard 2017 initiative.

The wide-ranging events programme caters for almost every digital skills level from ‘Augmented Reality Tools’ (Wednesday, 2pm and 3pm) and ‘Creating Digital Skills Badges’ (Tuesday, all day) in Galway to ‘Creating Animations’ (Wednesday, 1.30m).

4. Fashion Fundraiser

Cork’s largest accountancy practice EY will once again join forces with local fundraising team Sunshine & Umbrellas for the fifth annual charity fashion show in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research and Cork ARC Support House.

The event will take place at 7pm on Thursday at the Clayton Hotel, Cork City, with special guest Gerald Kean as MC.

Styled by Beth Haughton, the evening will showcase the leading trends for the spring and summer from leading Cork boutiques.

Tickets are priced at €35.

5. Wild Rides

Tayto Park in Co Meath is reopening on Friday and has announced the arrival of a new water adventure ride.

The attraction, a Viking-themed flumeride will be open during the summer.

With 1.7m litres of water, a Viking village, five replica Viking ships and 20 life size Vikings, families can expect to feel the splash.
