Sadie's home…Family thrilled as beloved dog returns home after national hunt

Sadie was found in the end just a half mile from her home, racing across a field.

Sadie, who is 18 months old went missing from her owner’s garden in Midleton, Cork and was presumed stolen last Sunday evening.

The dog, who is due to feature in the upcoming RTE series ’Pet Surgeons’, had been locked in securely when she suddenly disappeared.

"She’s worn out, wherever she was," said owner Cathal O’Shea. "We’re absolutely delighted to have her back."

Sadie was found this afternoon by a local woman out walking with her own golden retriever, about a half mile from her home, after a national hunt following an appeal from the family.

"The lady contacted us and we ran straight away to the area, where Sadie immediately knew us, and we brought her home," said Cathal, who thanked us for first running the story, and all of those who participated in the search.

"Sadie’s coat is unkempt and she’s exhausted, but otherwise ok," Cathal added. "She got a great welcome back from our two cats Paddy and Serena. We gave her a couple of treats and she’s resting now."

Mystery still surrounds how Sadie came to be missing, but the family are fully focused now on celebrating her return to them.
