Meeri Niinistö travelled to West Cork earlier this year to find out more about the growing surfing culture in the area and what makes it such an attractive prospect for people all over the world.

As her short documetary film shows, Ireland's beaches - no matter the weather - seem to be a key and growing destination of choice for surfers at home and from abroad.

MeeriNiinistö is from Finland and was an Erasmus student at the Cork Institute of Technology from February to May of this year. This video documentary was completed as part of the course requirement for 'Journalism with New Media' at the Cork Institute of Technology.
