Nintendo's NX tipped to be a handheld console

Multiple sources told Eurogamer that it will function as a standalone device with its own display and two controller sections that can be connected or disconnected as required.

It will also come with a base unit that connects the brain of the NX, located within the controller, to your TV.

It’s reported that the NX will utilise game cartridges, which makes sense if it is going to be a handheld device. Rumours indicate that Nintendo recommends a 32GB cartridge, which seems a little on the small side.

Finally, it is believed that the console will be powered by Nvidia's mobile-orientated Tegra processor.

The Nintendo NX is due to launch in March 2017; it’s expected that Nintendo will unveil the console in September.
