Known as the Frecce Tricolori, the jet pilots come from a branch of the Italian air force and they perform at air shows all over the world.

The team were brought to Ireland as part the Bray Air Display show - which is taking place over the weekend in the town - and they took to the skies over Ireland’s capital to promote their appearance at the show.

Frecce Tricolori translates in English to Tricolour Arrows, but it wasn’t their usual green, white and red appearing over Dublin at 3.30pm yesterday. Instead the team treated the public to a wonderfully coordinated flypast, complete with the Irish version of the tricolour.

Wow!

Speaking on the flypast chief executive of the Irish Aviation Authority Eamonn Brennan said air displays play an important role in "connecting people with the aviation sector".

"We are honoured to have the Freece Tricolori participate in this year’s (Bray) Air Display," said Brennan.

"Aviation has played a critical role in the development of the Irish economy over the last 100 years and it remains a key part of the Irish economic system, supporting over 40,000 jobs directly. Air displays are a really fantastic way of connecting people with the aviation sector and for creating an interest for future generations of pilots, engineers and enthusiasts.

"We’re all really looking forward to it."

The Bray Air Display show takes place tomorrow and Sunday, the show promises displays from 27 jets and 46 other aircraft over the course of the weekend.
