Graphene batteries could make phone recharge times plummet

Chinese company Dongxu Optoelectronics has shown off a graphene battery pack that could recharge fully in just 15 minutes.

The G-King battery pack has a 4,800mAh capacity, which is more akin to a tablet or laptop battery than a smartphone, and can recharge in 13 to 15 minutes. Dongxu claims that the battery can be discharged and recharged 3,500 times, which it says is 7 times the strength of a conventional Li-Ion battery.

Aside from causing recharge times to plummet graphene battery packs could also make flexible screens possible and improve heart rate and fingerprint sensors.

Don't get too excited about these possibilities just yet though. Dongxu is yet to reveal when the G-King battery pack will be available or fitted in devices.
