Valve to crack down on gambling sites
These gambling sites have hit the headlines in recent weeks because they are seen as a way to encourage kids to gamble. Things got even more controversial when it was discovered that two popular Counter-Strike: GO streamers, Trevor "Tmartn" Martin and Tom "Syndicate" Cassell, actually owned the skin gambling site that they promoted and claimed to have stumbled upon.
Yesterday, Valve released a statement to distance itself from these gambling sites. It wrote, "We’d like to clarify that we have no business relationships with any of these sites. We have never received any revenue from them. And Steam does not have a system for turning in-game items into real world currency."
