Red Dead Redemption coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility

While we patiently await news of a sequel, there is some breaking news coming from the Wild West. Red Dead Redemption will be playable on Xbox One from Friday via backwards compatibility.

Red Dead Redemption coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility

Microsoft's Major Nelson took to Twitter to announce the news. It didn't require much fanfare; all he said was, "Red Dead Redemption from @Rockstargames is coming to Xbox One Back Compat this Friday." That's all Red Dead Redemption fans needed to hear really.

It's not a huge surprise that it will be backwards compatible. It was for a spell back in February before Microsoft removed it, later claiming that it was part of a test and wasn't supposed to be available to the public.

There have been rumblings of a sequel in the works for some time. Could this potentially be the first inkling that one is in the pipeline? It may be a case of wishful thinking, but time will tell.
