The Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny is the venue for an antique fair tomorrow. Hibernian Antique Fairs will be in attendance from 11am to 6pm.
An exhibition of hand-printed and digital imagery of a railway journey through central and eastern Europe by Alice Beresford is on show at Bonham’s in Dublin until July 10.
Alice Beresford trained with commercial photographers in Dublin and then studied at Parson’s School of Design in New York.
Recently she completed an artist’s residency in Los Angeles. The title of the exhibition is Scar Lines.
In New York, Christie’s will launch its first open series of post-war and contemporary art and editions as online only sales this July.
More than 500 lots of paintings, sculpture, installation, works on paper and photographs with estimates from $500 (€450) to $180,000 will be on offer online from July 14-29.
Upcoming lots at the Lynes and Lynes sale in Carrigtwohill on July 16 include a limited edition print from a 1738 painting by Peter Monamy entitled ‘Yachts of the water club of the Harbour, Cork’. The member’s colour print has a low estimate of €60.
Collectors will be interested in an Egan’s Cork silver strawberry dish with jubilee mark in mint condition estimated at €80-€150.
An historically important Polar medal awarded to able seaman Timothy McCarthy from Kinsale, one of five men chosen by the explorer Ernest Shackleton to accompany him on his epic 1,290km Antarctic Endurance rescue mission, is to be auctioned by Dix Noonan Webb in London on July 22 July.
It is estimated at £15,000-£20,000 (€18,000 to €24,000). McCarthy was one of 46 sailors who died when the SS Narragansett was torpedoed off the south coast of Ireland in 1917.
‘Race to the Finish’ by Liam O’Neill was the top lot at Morgan O’Driscoll’s online sale of Irish art this week. It made €8,500. Basil Blackshaw’s ‘Yellow Car’ sold for €4,800.
