No Man's Sky settles legal dispute with Sky

After three years of legal turmoil, No Man’s Sky has been given the go-ahead by Sky to retain its name.

No Man's Sky settles legal dispute with Sky

Hello Games founder Sean Murray revealed on Twitter that the two parties have come to an agreement, though the terms of this agreement weren’t revealed. "Yay! We finally settled with Sky (they own the word "Sky"). We can call our game No Man's Sky. 3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense over," Murray tweeted.

"This is the same folks who made Microsoft change Skydrive to Onedrive... so it was pretty serious.”

"On the plus side perhaps this is the real reason Skynet never happened..."

It’s unclear if this legal dispute had anything to do with No Man’s Sky’s release date being pushed back until August. It’s just as well this saga ended this way; it would have been difficult to readjust to a new name after years of referring to it by No Man’s Sky.
