Hard to come by Cork artists offered in two sales next week

Woodward’s will offer a small maritime painting by George Mounsey Wheatley Atkinson (1806-1884).
Hodnett Forde of Clonakilty have come up with a work by Harry Scully RHA (1860-1935) at their on-the-premises sale of contents from the parochial house in Belgooly.
The Atkinson is estimated at €5,000-€8,000, the Scully at €1,000-€1,200. Both sales take place next Saturday (June 18).

Antique furniture at Woodward’s includes a Georgian bureau bookcase, a Regency rosewood card table; an inlaid revolving bookcase; a Georgian sofa table; a long case clock; a Georgian chest of drawers; a large gilt mirror; an inlaid twin pillar dining table and a Victorian davenport.

A pair of cast iron garden vases, a five-piece garden set and a pair of cast iron seats are seasonal offerings. The sale is on view at the premises at Cook Street, Cork, from noon until 5 pm today, 2 pm to 5 pm tomorrow, and from 10 am to 5 pm daily next week.
The Hodnett Forde sale, for the representatives of the late Canon Daniel Burns, will take place at the Parochial House at 12.30pm, Saturday. Around 200 lots including antique furniture are to be sold.
There is a mahogany two door bookcase, a large oak dining table and chairs, an oak sideboard and dumb waiter, a mahogany side table, a large over mantle mirror, a partners’ desk and various household contents.

Viewing is from 10 am next Saturday morning.
