A baby elephant has been rescued after getting itself stuck in a drain in Sri Lanka.

The calf was recovered after rescue efforts by local port workers and wildlife officials.

The area is known to have wild elephants roaming free in the village and the young calf is believed to have fallen into the drain while doing so.

Thankfully the elephant was treated by medical staff after suffering a broken leg
