An Irish girl took a Chinese takeaway all the way from Louth to Spain

You know when you get a craving for something and you won’t be happy until you get it?

An Irish girl took a Chinese takeaway all the way from Louth to Spain

Nicola Ní Shúilleabháin lives in Granada, Spain and, while we’re sure they have great food over there, sometimes all you want is a dirty takeaway from your local Chinese. Unfortunately for Nicola and her two friends, their local was almost 3,000 km away, back home in Louth.

And their delivery doesn’t cover Spain.

But, as many madcap but genius ideas start, a plan was hatched after a few drinks.

Nicola tells us:

"We were out and talking about how much we would love a Chinese from home for the hangover the next day, when my friend got this look in his eye that I knew he had an idea and then he said to me ’Challenge’. I love a challenge so he knew I would do it and that’s what it was, to bring a Chinese back with me from my weekend home".

And so began an epic journey by car and plane through 30-degree heat to bring three large 3 in 1s with beef, three salt and chilli chickens, and three spring rolls from the Golden Bowl in Drogheda back to her two mates in Granada.

That’s a 2788km journey - but the restaurants were kind enough to double wrap the food before it got packed away in Nicola’s suitcase.

And it made it! Without a spill or a squash. Just a quick heating up and they were ready to go.

We imagine it was probably a bit soggy but beggars can’t be choosers and all that.

Nicola, we salute you.
