OnePlus 3 render may be a decoy

OnePlus’ PR rep in China released a render of the OnePlus 3 this morning, but there are suspicions that it’s nothing more than a decoy.

Apparently, the same tactic is done by OnePlus’ sister company Vivo to drum up interest ahead of a release. Then there’s the issue of OnePlus removing features like laser autofocus and dual-tone flash, and adopting a HTC-like design.

The render does indicate that NFC is back, and that the front fingerprint reader and USB Type-C port remain. There’s no certainty that this will be the case with the final product, but it seems more likely that OnePlus would omit something that it will have than advertise something that it won’t.

According to a leaked benchmark, the OnePlus 3 will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset and up to 6GB of RAM.

The OnePlus 3 will be launched sometime in June, according to OnePlus Head Of Global Carl Pei.
