Star Wars Irish shoot grounds drones at four locations

It still seems pretty nuts that Star Wars Episode VIII is actually shooting in Ireland but large sets have been constructed at several locations and the word is stars like Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are in the country right now.

Star Wars Irish shoot grounds drones at four locations

As principal photography looms, several key locations around the country are being closed to drone traffic. This is for a variety of reasons, mostly safety in the event of helicopters being used and also to help keep secrets from being revealed.

The areas and dates have been outlined by the Irish Aviation Authority on their official site:

Sybil Head and Dunmore Head - 05th to 26th May 2016 Inclusive.

Brow Head, Co. Cork - 16th to 18th May 2016 Inclusive.

Loop Head, Co. Clare - 17th to 19th May 2016 Inclusive.

Malin Head, Co. Donegal - 12th to 16th May 2016 Inclusive.

No drone can be flown in these areas during these periods without written permission from the filmmakers and the Flight Operations Authority, and craft which violate these rule could be seized by the Garda and used in a future prosecution.

The wording could hardly be stronger, still you can be sure some people will try to spy on proceedings in the galaxy far, far away.
