UPDATE: The Springer Spaniel found in Cork yesterday has been reunited with his owners today.

Great news! The dog rescued by the CSPCA has thankfully been returned home

The Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA) posted a photo on Facebook saying the Springer's much-relieved owner Darren had picked up the dog today.

All's well that ends well, and well done to the CSPCA for their great work!

Some dogs get left out in the cold when they go missing but thankfully for this fella, he was found fast.

The adult Springer Spaniel was found swimming in the River Lee at 10.30am this morning near North Mall, Cork.

Thankfully a passer-by phoned the CSPCA and kindly waited with the dog until a warden from the charity could get to them.

Dog warden/inspector David Nagle collected the dog who luckily was not seriously hurt.

The CSPCA have said the dog is in fine health and said to be "in good spirits overall."

becoming law on April 1 - meaning the CSPCA have no way of contacting his owners.

He will now be categorised as a stray dog and his owner now has seven days to reclaim him. If he is not claimed in that time period, then he will officially be put up for adoption.

Hopefully, the dog will be reunited with his owners soon.
