Moto X 2016 may offer modular attachments

Yesterday, it was revealed that this year’s Moto X may feature an all-metal design. Today, there’s another leak that indicates that the Moto X will offer modular attachments.

Like the LG G5, the Moto X will supposedly allow users to swap modules in and out. According to a report from VentureBeat, the Moto X 2016 has six modular attachments, called Amps, lined up.

It’s said that there will be a stereo speaker, a camera grip with optical zoom lens, a battery pack, and a pico projector.

Unlike the G5, the Moto X may not have to be turned off when swapping attachments.

There will reportedly be two Moto X handsets released this year. Both will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, though the budget Vertex will feature a resolution of 1080p, while the Vector Thin will feature a 1440p panel.

The Vector Thin is the higher end handset with a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3 or 4GB RAM, and a 2,600mAh battery. The Vertex features a larger 3,500mAh battery and comes in two variants, one with 16GB storage and 2GB RAM and another with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM.

They also differ on the camera front. The Vector Thin features a 16MP camera with optical image stabilisation, phase-detection autofocus. The Vertex features a 13MP camera, but lacks phase-detection autofocus.

It’s expected that the Moto X will be officially unveiled in the very near future.
