It looks like the buzz is catching on in high circles in the US as an NFL star has now taken up the past-time.

Alex Collins of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and one of the top running back prospects in the NFL has discovered Irish dancing as a unique way of improving his footwork on the football field.

The 21-year-old says he was insprired to take up dancing by the daughter of his high school coach, who was a member of the Drake School of Irish Dance.

Collins isn't the first NFL star to take up dancing as way to improve agility and footwork as it is widely known that many others take up some form of dance such as ballet in the off season.

Fair play Alex, maybe you could pop over and take part in a feis or two?
