DIT to celebrate the genius of Brendan Behan with public lecture

A lecture will be held at the DIT Grangegorman by Des Geraghty, who will discuss Behan’s significant contribution to literature, drama, and poetry. The event will incorporate poetry and song with drama students from DIT performing short excerpts from Behan's work.

After the talk the DIT Brendan Behan Award will be launched to recognise people who have demonstrated excellence in the area of the arts, media, and culture.

Behan himself attended DIT Bolton St in 1937 and the inauguration of the award will celebrate the link between DIT and the renowned author and playwright.

Members of the Behan family, including his daughter, Blanaid Walker and her two sons will be in attendance.

The public is welcome to attend the event which is free but it is ticketed. To book, you can register HERE.
