The Railway Timekeepers clock went missing on Saturday night and, while it was spotted in Curran’s pub later on, by Monday, it still hadn’t turned up.

Dick Mack’s put out an appeal on Facebook that quickly

The clock itself was found by a Dingle local in Curran’s yard but those responsible have also come forward and have offered to pay for the damage.

Apparently, it was the online reaction that guilted the culprits into owning up - nothing like a good-natured internet witch hunt to amp up the Monday morning fear.

Dick Mack’s put out a statement on Facebook earlier this morning:

"The culprits have since been in touch, have apologised and will pay for the damage to the clock so we will draw a line under the whole fiasco!

We would just like to thank everyone online for their interest and help, the locals here in Dingle, the lads in Currans Pub and other pubs in town and the Gardai."

And they plan to "raise a few glasses tonight to celebrate the return".
