New Twin Peaks could come to cinemas
Filmmaker David Lynch is currently putting together an all new season of Twin Peaks on a timeline that's suitably idiosyncratic. So while we don't know when it will actually air (sometime in 2017 at this stage we're guessing) we know it's going to be quite the event.
Showtime CEO David Nevins has been chatting to Bloomberg about the ongoing work with David Lynch and the unconventional elements of Twin Peaks. Everyone involved knows its going to be a major event, and that could extend to releasing it in various unique ways. So you could imagine screening multiple episodes on the same night if they have connected storylines, or varying episode length.
Nevins goes further to suggest that the experience could even enter into movie theatres, as he's convinced exhibitors will be interested in the return of this iconic show. The idea of a multi episode screening on a huge screen, or even a re-edited feature take on part of the series, is hugely exciting and shows just how much crossover there is in these worlds today, not to mention the massive anticipation for Twin Peaks.
