Loyal and regular following at Limerick event this weekend

ALL the fun of the antique fair is available for avid collectors at the South Court Hotel in Limerick this weekend.

More than 100 dealers from around Ireland have assembled for the National Antiques, Art and Vintage Fair which runs from 11am to 6pm today and tomorrow.

Now in its 26th year this fair has grown annually and it has a loyal and regular following.

A trend now emerging is that regular antique fairs, of which this is one of the biggest, are attracting new faces and new collectors.

There is furniture, silver, jewellery, coins, banknotes, books, vintage fashion, porcelain, tin plate toys, prints, and engravings.

There is plenty of work by popular Irish artists to choose from and jewellery is always a draw.

Weldon’s will offer an Irish Celtic brooch (pictured below) made in the 1860s by Thomas Brunker of Dublin. He was master of the Company of Goldsmiths in 1851.

The design of the brooch, an unusual lozenge pattern repeating all over, was registered in 1860.

Organiser Robin O’Donnell of Hibernian Antique Fairs promises that there will be more than one million objects to collect from all corners of Ireland.
