Irish artists to fore in Skibbereen sale
Popular Irish artists like Patrick Scott, Donald Teskey, Mark O’Neill, Basil Blackshaw and Kenneth Webb are among those already attracting strong bidding at Morgan O’Driscoll’s current online auction of Irish art. The sale runs at www.morganodriscoll.com from 6.30pm to 11pm next Monday evening.
It will be on view in Skibbereen next Monday from 11am to 3pm.
This particular sale offers an interesting selection across all price ranges. There is contemporary work from artists like Charles Tyrrell, John Kingerlee and the late Barrie Cooke and Louis le Brocquy, a signed and numbered wood engraving by Salvador Dali entitled Extravagance Purgatory 22, estimated at €1,000 to €1,500 and works designed to appeal to a different taste by Kenneth Webb, William Conor and Mark O’Neill.
There is an abstract by Mainie Jellett, a photograph by John Minihan of Samuel Beckett’s childhood home; still lives by Mat Grogan and David Ffrench le Roy, as well as sculpture by John Behan, John O’Sullivan, William Robinson and Jarlath Daly in a big sale which lists no less than 368 lots.
