WATCH: Galway farmer tries to save his farm from the floods
The floods in 2009 forced Joe to leave his home for two months as the water destroyed his house and farm buildings.
The recent rain fall from Storm Desmond means the threat of a repeat scenario is dangerously high.
The flooding has filled one of his sheds and it has left Joe's winter stock of turf completely destroyed.
One of the main priorities for Joe has been getting his animals to higher ground and safety. He only has two donkeys left after the 2009 floods forced Joe to give up the cattle he tended.
His 10 acres of land has become submerged and he is hoping that with the general election coming local politicians can assist in getting funds to provide proper drainage in the area.
Joe's story really puts a human front on the devastation being caused by the floods.
