TWEETS: Cork people were not happy about the insane traffic yesterday

In what was called the worst traffic gridlock in years, Cork City was brought to a standstill last night following the closure of one lane of traffic on the South Link Road.

People were stuck in queues for hours on their commute home from work as tailbacks stretched all the way from the Jack Lynch Tunnel back as far as the Sarsfields Road Roundabout and beyond.

The tailbacks were caused by areas of flooding near the tunnel where authorities closed one of the lanes on the way in from the Mahon side.
