VIDEO: Timelapse shows recreation of our powerful Jonah Lomu tribute in Cork
To pay tribute to the man many considered to be the first superstar of professional rugby the Irish Examiner published a front page tribute to Lomu, which touched hearts around the world.
A recreation of that front page has since been made and it is now on display in Cork city.
Created by Peter Martin and Luke Sisk, it is on display to the public at the Sugarcube Pod, Grand Parade.
A timelapse captures how the tribute was recreated.
Chemestry, who created the tribute said, "It’s no exaggeration to say that millions saw, and reacted to, our Jonah Lomu tribute. Social media meant that the image was hosted, shared, appreciated and commented on all over the world.
"It provided further proof, if it were needed, of the affection in which he was held, and the respect that he had earned in so short a time on Earth.
"So when the opportunity arose to create a more lasting tribute to him, in the form of a mural, we engaged local artist Peter Martin to recreate a version of our front page on a larger scale on the mural space at Cubed on South Mall made available by Ernest Cantillon.
"Fitting, as one thing Jonah Lomu commanded always was a lot of space."
