While talking about ‘the golden age of television’, the 54 year old actor took some questions from the audience and the inevitable happened.

“Did Jon Snow survive?” asked a voice from the back of the room.

“Let me tell you something,” the Dubliner responded. “David Nutter, who directed the Jon Snow episode was at a party and a man called ‘Barack Obama’ came up to him.

“Before the President could even ask him a question, David said to him straight out ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead’.

“So I’m not going to tell you anything different than the President of the United States knows, the man is dead!”

He also said that Mr Obama gets to see the show before most other people, even the cast.

“Barack Obama gets advanced DVD copies. He gets them before I do, and I’m in it!”

Mr Cunningham may have said that Jon Snow was dead, but have we seen the last of character?
