VIDEO: Meet the men who make honey on a Dublin rooftop

Many Dubliners spend their days rushing around the city like busy bees, but little do they know there are colonies of bees all over their city baking urban honey. From the mountains to the rooftops, the Dublin Honey Project is buzzing.

Photographer Kieran Harnett and architect Gearóid Carvill run the Dublin Honey Project in their spare time.

Their day jobs keep them grounded, but, as Dublin 2020 point out, "in their other lives they have a bee’s eye view of the city".

One of The Dublin Honey Project’s three apiaries in Dublin is among the clouds on the rooftop of Belvedere College in the inner city. The bees here enjoy views of the Dublin Mountains and Croke Park.

The project aims to produce raw honey from each of the postcodes of Dublin, and the pair explain in the video below how honey produced in each area has unique flavours.

You can taste the honey and see the difference a postcode can make at the Dublin Honey Project stall at the Dublin Made Me Market on November 1st.
