Naas auction to sell The Spirit of Justice by Daniel Maclise

Des O’Sullivan finds Ireland represented as a female figure in The Spirit of Justice under the hammer in Co Kildare.

The Spirit of Justice by the Cork artist Daniel Maclise (1806-1870) is among the top lots at Fonsie Mealy’s auction at Furness, Naas, Co Kildare next Tuesday.

Representing Ireland as a female figure holding a harp it is inscribed: “Caroline Norton, a study for the great fresco of justice in the House of Lords.”
