Film on Irish homelessness to feature in Cork Indie film festival
’Homelessness: A Crisis Beyond Crisis’ was directed and produced by Cork film maker and journalist, Micheal O’Mahony, and was highlighted first on irishexaminer.com.
In July 2015, 77 families became homeless in Ireland. 155 were children. 70 of these families never experienced homelessness before and speaking about why he made the documentary, Micheal said he could not stand by as a third world problem unfolds in Ireland.
"No family should have to experience homelessness and especially not children."
The 22min documentary looks into the causes, effects and solutions of the current homeless and housing crisis and includes interviews from homeless campaigner, Fr. Peter McVerry, representatives of homeless organisations and real life stories people affected by the homeless and housing crisis.
The film features in the Creative Cork, Cork Lives section of this years Cork Indie film festival on Thursday, October 8th at 9pm.
