And naturally every one wanted to be in the audience.

The gig took place in an empty building on North Great George’s Street and judging from the video it looked incredible.

Hansard treated fans to songs from his new album,  Didn’t He Ramble, as well as some favourites including finishing the night off with a rendition of  The Parting Glass.

Roddy Doyle also made an appearance reading some of his famous Two Pints shorts, which delighted the audience.

Fans told the  Irish Examiner that the intimate venue made the gig all the better and that words couldn’t do it any justice.

Some of the new songs Hansard played included Winning StreakHer Mercy and  McCormack’s Wall.

Dublin born Anderson was also performing at the gig playing support.
