VIDEO: Understanding the Killing of Cecil the Lion

This week the story of Cecil the lion is told.

Zimbabwe’s most famous lion whose death has been widely publicized sparked anger world wide.

American dentist, Walter Palmer, allegedly paid 50,000 dollars (£32,000) to kill Zimbabwe’s most famous wild lion.

Cecil, famous among safari tourists for his dark mane, is believed to have been killed on July 1. His body was discovered days later by trackers, Zimbabwean conservationists said.

Two Zimbabwean men, a professional hunter and a farm owner, faced poaching charges in the country.

The online outrage was intense, with Palmer’s Facebook and Twitter pages being targeted.

Mr Walker clainmed he did not know that Cecil was protected and thought the hunt to be completely legal.
