VIDEO: Canadian election candidate slays dragons and destroys robots in campaign video

Canadian Wyatt Scott is running for election, and he’s facing an uphill battle. As an independent candidate, he’s far less likely to get elected in his constituency (called "ridings" in Canada).

Luckily, Scott has found a way to stand out from the crowd: a frankly incredible candidate’s video advert featuring giant geese, dragonslaying, and robot-destroying laser eye powers.

The video was published to YouTube in June, but has received a viral lift this week after being posted to forums online.

Speaking to Canada’s National Post newspaper, Scott said "people don’t have attention spans nowadays, so we figured what can we do to draw attention?"

And attention-grabbing it is, as he declares "university is too damn expensive" before catching a man wearing a dress and fist-bumping an alien.

He also decries the plight of indigenous cultures, in front of a Mayan temple covered with marijuana plants.

Scott, however, has actual policies listed on his website. He advocates growth in the Canadian manufacturing business and agriculture, as well as free third-level education at a national level.

We can only hope this trend of grabbing attention at any cost leaks into other national elections, including our own in the coming months.
