VIDEO: Ronan O’Gara travelled to Haiti with Irish charity Haven

Former Irish Rugby International Ronan O’Gara visited Haiti with Irish charity Haven in mid-June. 

As a long-time supporter of Haven, he had a chance to see some of their community development programmes on the ground in Haiti.

Ronan saw first-hand what life is like in Haiti spending time with local people who are taking part in income generation programmes ran by Haven in various communities on the Caribbean island.

While in Haiti, he also visited families who had their homes upgraded through Haven’s housing upgrade programme on the island of Ile A Vache just south of Haiti’s mainland.

Although it was a short trip Ronan has said that it was a fantastic experience and something he really needed to see.

“Haven are doing great work but the important thing is the positive attitude the locals are bringing to all of these projects.” he said.
