Facial contouring with cosmetics is the most Googled makeup technique in recent years. By using a mixture of colours and textures the intension is to create the illusion of a more chiselled bone structure such as higher cheekbones.

Celebrities like the Kardashian clan have championed this look by posting images of themselves mid-makeover with rather stripy complexions. But that is where the problem lies. Contouring is and was never intended to be worn on an everyday basis because unless you’re a makeup artist it is very difficult to build and layer so many colours without it being obvious.

Mark suggests that by manipulating the shape of the eyebrow it is possible to add angles or to soften facial features where necessary.
