were due to begin their Innocence and Experience tour in Vancouver yesterday, but it would have probably been a mixed experience for the band, considering they had spent part of this week in Dublin at the funeral of Larry Mullen Sr, father of the group’s drummer.
Mullen Sr had passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. Apparently U2 will play in Ireland at some stage as part of the current tour, but details have yet to be worked out.
Meanwhile, it looks like
might get a proper biopic at last. The legendary guitarist’s estate has given the green light for his music to be used in a project helmed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, United 93, etc). We’ve already had André Benjamin of Outkast star as Hendrix in All Is by My Side, but that Dublin-made film couldn’t secure rights to any of the late star’s music. There’s no word on casting yet for this project.Who’d win in a fight between
and ? We could soon find out as, in a legal sense at least, the two British stars are battling over plans by the former Take That singer to expand his west London home. The Daily Mail reports that Page has been enlisting planners and architects to stop his neighbour’s extension.Promising albums on the way include
