VIDEO: Korean couple swallowed by sinkhole in train station

A Korean couple had the very unpleasant experience of a metaphor coming to life when the ground literally swallowed them up.

The man and woman were walking along a tiled platform in Yongsan Station in South Korea when a sinkhole opened up beneath them and they fell through, causing them to disappear instantly from view.

Fortunately, the couple survived with only minor leg injuries - but they had to wait in the three-metre deep hole for 20 minutes before emergency services arrived.
