Irish art high on agenda at Cork sale

Viewing is now underway at Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork for tomorrow’s Irish art and antiques auction by Dolan’s.

The catalogue lists 185 lots of mostly Irish art with some antique and contemporary silver, antique furniture, porcelain and collectibles.

Frank Egginton’s Geese on the shore near Renvyle (€1,200-€1,600) was once in the collection of General Sir Miles Dempsey, D-Day Commander of the British Second Army.

A rugby painting by Ian Cryer entitled Red Rhapsody is estimated at €400-€600 and Coastal Blues by Cormac O’Leary is estimated at just €300-€400.

Among the artists whose work will be offered are Kenneth Webb, Thomas Ryan, John Kingerlee, Gladys MacCabe.

There are 40 lots from Tulira Castle in Co. Galway, once home to playwright Edward Martyn, which include some contemporary silver pieces.

Viewing is from 10 am to 8 pm today. and from 10 am to the start of the sale at 2 pm tomorrow.
