From baby-bump to the carousel of life, this book gently and humorously takes a move forward to include foster parents, adoption; coping with a new step parent, or even living with two mums or two dads. The well-thought out illustrations blend perfectly with the contents of this fun, inspiring big book to share with ages five and upwards.
Just as the composition of ‘Silent Night’ was a joint effort by Joseph Mohr and Franz Xaver Gruber, this splendid book fittingly is the creation of Austrian Werner Thuswaldner and Australian illustrator Robert Ingpen.
Father Joseph Mohr was a down-to-earth pipe-smoking man of the people who enjoyed a pint with the hardworking boatmen of Oberndorf. In an effort to cheer up the population he combined with music-teacher Franz to compose the now world-famous carol.
Word got out that something special would happen at the Christmas Vigil Mass, and Joseph accompanied the pair on guitar at the first rendition of Silent Night. After one chorus the congregation joined in. The rest is history. It includes a CD featuring Caitlin ni Chualain. Suitable for age eight and upwards.
