The gig represents the fruits of a series of collaborations between singers and songwriters on either side of the Atlantic, with performances at the venue being interspersed with a Skype link to a simultaneous event in New York. Participants include Rónán Ó Snodaigh of Kila and Alan Tobin from West Cork. And yes, just in case you missed the Slane announcement, Kaiser Chiefs and Hozier will support Foo Fighters at the venue on May 30. Tickets at €79.50 + booking fee go on sale on Monday.

Cork Cine Club shows true Australian adventure story Tracks next Thursday at St Johns College, while the Triskel’s roster from Sunday includes US indie tale, the Skeleton Twins; and West Cork-based actor Jeremy Irons in Night Train To Lisbon. The Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival has renewed its call for entries for next May’s event.
British comedian Ross Noble brings his Tangentleman tour to Cork Opera House on Dec 7, and the Olympia in Dublin on Dec 9. Rugby celebs such as George Hook and Brent Pope provide cameo voiceovers for Joe Prop, the tale of an overweight child who escapes the playground teasing by becoming a spot in the scrum in the school team. The play runs at axis: Ballymun on December 10-12.
