While 54% of Irish adults exercise between three and five times a week on their own, almost a third (32%) of adults with children never take part in any physical activities with their family. New research has found that nearly two-thirds (59%) of Irish families consider shopping to be their number one family activity, while 41% spend less than one hour per week engaged in physical exercise as a family. The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal, helps bring joy to some of the world’s poorest children. Each year Irish families, school and communities come together and to date, have packed and sent almost 2.8 million shoeboxes to Africa and Eastern Europe. To join in the appeal, people are being asked to wrap a shoebox with Christmas paper, fill it with gifts for a child, attach €4 and bring it to any of the 300 drop off points across the country before November 10.
