Breastfeeding boosts the bond between mum and baby

FOR years, midwife Clare Boyle has been concerned about the low levels of breast-feeding in this country. A lactation consultant, who runs regular breast-feeding clinics, she has made a five-minute film, Love Breastfeeding, which focuses on seven mums and one dad.
A week of events to promote breastfeeding
National Breastfeeding Week, 2014 runs from Wednesday, October 1, to Tuesday, October 7.
Mothers will be able participate in the Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge, an annual event staged worldwide to raise public awareness of the normalisation of breastfeeding.
The challenge began in 2001 in Canada, when 856 mothers and babies nursed simultaneously at 26 different sites.
There are a number of venues registered in Ireland for the 2014 event, including Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Clare, Galway, Limerick, Offaly and Waterford.
Mothers wishing to participate can pre-register here.
