From Brad’s early days as a Hollywood hunk to Angelina’s wild child past, here are 11 reasons why the Hollywood couple, affectionately nicknamed Brangelina, have endeared themselves to the public.
1) They fell in love hard
Brad and Angelina’s path to true love wasn’t smooth. They met while shooting Mr And Mrs Smith in 2005. At the time, Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston, but has always denied allegations of cheating. However, that didn’t stop fans from choosing sides – Team Angelina and Team Jen.
Meanwhile, Angelina was previously married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller for three years in the late ’90s and to Billy Bob Thornton for three years before divorcing in 2003.
Brad divorced the former Friends star in 2005, before waiting a subtle amount of time before getting together with Angelina.
2) Their children mean everything to them
Once they got together, they got serious pretty quickly. They adopted children Maddox and Zahara before the birth of their first biological child, Shiloh, in 2006.

The following year, the Tomb Raider star and Fight Club heart-throb adopted son Pax, then aged three, from Vietnam. In 2008, their second and third biological children, twins Vivienne and Knox were born at a hospital in Nice, France, and they remain hands-on with the kids.
3) They share their household duties out equally
They take turns to do the chores and look after the children. Brad showed off his domestic god while Angelina was busy with Maleficent.
“Brad’s started getting quite into sorting out the washing and doing the ironing himself,” a source told The Mirror.
“He’s been pottering around the house a bit while Ange is away, and it helps to keep him occupied. He likes nothing more than doing a bit of housework before getting the kids to help him prepare dinner, which they love.”
4) They do their own cooking
Despite their fame and fortune, the couple try to do their own cooking and have some semblance of family life for their children.
Angelina told Anderson Cooper in December 2011: “Brad and I decided we were actually going to make the turkey and we were very successful and very proud of ourselves.”
“We actually have family dinner every night. We make a point of it. It’s crazy,” Angelina explained. “There’s a good five minutes where everybody is quiet and sitting together and then it starts to break off.”
5) Angelina’s charity work
A committed humanitarian, Angelina was awarded an honorary damehood (DCMG) for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence.

On receiving the award, she said: “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to.
“Working on the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”
6) Their unwavering support for each other
Their relationship hit new heights after Angelina revealed she had had a preventative double mastectomy.

Brad described the decision, made because she carried the “faulty” gene BRCA1 which sharply increases her risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer, as “absolutely heroic”.
In a New York Timesarticle, Angelina wrote: ‘I am fortunate to have a partner, Brad Pitt, who is so loving and supportive. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has.”
They always support each other at red carpet events and premieres, and Brad was the loving other half when Angelina attended the global summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.
7) They remain respectful of each other
Angelina has said that Brad treats her very well.
“The way Brad treats me and the way he takes care of me and makes something special on Mother’s Day with all the kids and he is teaching them to respect women,” she said.
“And respect their mother. And I hope to do the same for the boys in how I treat their father in front of them.”
8) Their spark is stronger than ever
Angelina revealed that her 50-year-old husband hasn’t lost the art of romance throughout their nine-year relationship, and would send her romantic handwritten letters when they were living apart.

“We decided to be of that time, when we could imagine he was in the European theatre and I was in the Pacific theatre, and we wrote handwritten letters to each other that were very connecting for us, thinking of the people that were separated for months, if not years, at a time back then,” she told Australia’s TV Week.
9) Their chemistry extends from real life to the screen
Anyone who has seen Mr And Mrs Smith can almost spot the sparks flying between the pair, as they tussle and dodge bullets. Let’s hope that their new film, Under The Sea, will see them on top form again, as it’s the first time they have reunited on the big screen since the 2005 action movie.
10) They’ve apparently made a pact not to do love scenes with anyone else
Brad’s close friend, furniture designer Frank Pollaro, told Esquire magazine that the couple have promised each other they will not film sex scenes with anybody else.
Frank said: “Once I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, ‘Daddy, you’re not going to start making out with Mommy again, are you?’ And it’s like that.
“This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he’s met Angelina. He’s crazy about her, and she’s the same way about him.”
11) They are just so down-to-earth
They may be one of the world’s most photographed couples in the world, but they take their fame with a pinch of salt.

Angelina told Total Film: “The great thing about having a bunch of kids is they just remind you that you’re the person who takes them to go poop.
“We just explain to our kids that people like to take pictures of people who make movies. And that’s all it is,” she continued.
“It’s not anything special about mommy and daddy – we just happen to make movies. [We] have a very normal, very grounded home. And we’re friends, and we have a laugh with our kids.”
